Country Road....
Tulip Festival was being held in Melbourne. Out of Curiosity and armed with a wide sense of adventure, thous decided to visit the Tulip Festival. Noted that the existing map of Melbourne did not include the location of the Tulip Farm. Checked the net did not helped. However, did find instructions to the Tulip Farm. Take a one hour train and a half an hour bus..Easy..No alarm bells yet.
On Saturday morning, Friend and I headed out to the Train Station, all excited and fluffed up. All was in order untill we arrived Belgrave station all out in the COUNTRY!!!! The lovely bus driver kindly informed us that there is no direct bus out to the farm. The best chance that we have is to proceed with a 4.5 KM hike into the farm.
People, the hike is a non issue. The lack of people as well as vastness of the country was the shocker. Friend and I decided that the best way is to walk. Waiting for a cab was like waiting for a rabbit to fall on your lap. The good thing always for the To journey was the excitement of what will come your way. A glorious day filled with Tulips or a hot burning afternoon with dying flowers and miserable blooms. It was good that the To journey was filled with gorgeous flowers, plant nurseries along the way. The Bad thing is the dangerous bend and walking along the road filled with the risk of being mowed down. Survived it and arrived in the lovely farm!!!
The farm was fabulous with bulbous size tulips. Glorious sun and nice cool breeze co existed in Australia. So warm and nice... Took lots of picts and lots of nice wine tasting... Desert wine..Yummy...
The way back was quiet with two people trying to crawl their way through the 4.5 km. The final leg of 100m was outburst with screaming and cheering!!! Yahhooo.. We survived with trophys in the form of Wine and Tulips Stalks!
Cheers
